- โYour account is set to private, and you know exactly who can see your posts and story.
- โTwo-factor authentication is turned on for every account that offers it.
- โYou don't accept follow or friend requests from people you don't recognise.
- โYou think twice before posting anything that reveals where you are right now.
- โYou check who's tagged or mentioned you every so often, not just when something feels wrong.
- โYou know where the block, mute, and report buttons are โ before you need them in a hurry.
- โIf something feels off, you screenshot it (with the date and URL visible) before it can be deleted.
- โYou have someone to tell โ a friend, a family member, or a service like R.A.K.S.H.A.
- โYou have these numbers saved: 1930 (cyber fraud), 181 (women's helpline), 112 (emergency).
If something has already happened
This checklist is for prevention โ if you're here because something already went wrong, you don't need to have done everything on this list perfectly. Start with what's relevant now:
- Someone morphed or faked my photos
- My Instagram or Facebook account got hacked
- Filing a complaint on the Cyber Crime Portal
You don't have to figure this out alone. File a confidential complaint and R.A.K.S.H.A will help from there.
